Includes correspondence and photographs received by both John Ward Knowles and his son J A Knowles, concerning the British Society of Master Glass-Painters; Bringmann and Schmidt, German glass painters; and individual stained glass windows. The letters appear to have been acquired due to the Knowles' involvement in the Journal of the British Society of Master Glass-Painters.

The letters were originally housed in an expanding file, but were removed in original order by the archivist.

Includes a number of theatrical programmes relating to York Theatre Royal and the Grand Opera House; newspaper cuttings relating to theatrical productions; articles related to Sir John Irvine; one pamphlet on 'The Hampton Arts League, London'; edition of 'Scribner's Monthly Illustrated Magazine', 9/1879; two copies of 'The Magazine of Art', 1885 and 1891; two copies of 'The Art Student illustrated monthly magazine', 1864; and one copy of 'The Art Annual', 1884.
