35mm colour slides of mountaineering and climbing.
35mm colour slides of mountaineering and climbing in Yorkshire, the Lake District and the Alps. The provenance of the slides is unknown, and they are unlabelled with no captions. Slides have been catalogued as they have been found, with those in the same slide box kept together wherever possible. Photographs show travel, camping, climbing, mountaineering, music-making, apparently involving people called R and H. Sogar.
The image is in the form of a reproduction postcard. The property in the image was previously known as West Parade House, on the corner of Holgate Road and Mount Ephraim.
Includes one showing the interior of a York Corporation tram, and the second image showing the exterior of a tram with a female tram driver. The tram in the second picture is running line to High Ousegate. Both images are held in the same mount.
Entitled 'Some old reprinted pictures of York, Villages around York, Military Funeral, Seaside and Fishermen, Farming with Steam East Riding, York Trams.' Author is unknown, but the folder also includes some handwritten observations.
The images are all colour, and have been printed at A4 size and laminated. Includes Barbican Swimming Baths, Barbican Centre, Bonding Warehouse, Exhibition Square, Duncombe Place, Fire Station (Clifford Street), Garfield Terrace, Salvation Army (Gillygate), 'Bullnose Building' Leeman Road, Leeman Road District War Memorial, Piccadilly, Rowntrees Wharfe, Ryedale Building, Saxby House, Saint Barnabas School, Saint Crux, Saint Helen's Square, Saint Michael le Belfrey, Saint William's College, Woods Mill, York Sugar Factory and Yorkshire Museum.
Compiled by Sydney Martin. Most of the locations in the volume are captioned.
The volume includes 20 illustrations of York. Donated by Miss C M C Haines of Lancaster, August 1987.
The negatives were taken by David Whiteley of University of York.
The black and white print depicts the school in 1788.
