Biographical history

George Benson was born in 1856. On 24 August 1889 he married Annie Denton. Benson worked in York as an architect, and was heavily involved in the Yorkshire Architectural and York Archaeological Society (YAYAS). He published a number of works on historic buildings in York.

Scope and content

Boxes of printing blocks, with copper printing plates attached, used in the production of works by George Benson. Most are wrapped in paper, and some have badly faded pencil descriptions on the outside, whilst others have full printed captions.
