Administrative history

Haxby Town Council was officially created when the Local Government Act of 1894 formed Parish Councils. The new Parish/Town Councils assumed responsibility for local civic and social welfare which was previously managed through ecclesiastical parishes.

Official burial registers for the cemetery, detailing number of entry, date of burial, full name of the deceased, age, address at death, date of death, plot situation and number, signature of person making the entry and other particulars, including who officiated the service. The records also note whether the entry relates to a full burial or internment of ashes.
