Heslington Parish Council was officially created when the Local Government Act of 1894 formed Parish Councils. The new Parish Councils assumed responsibility for local civic and social welfare which was previously managed through ecclesiastical parishes.

Minute volume for regular and annual meetings of the parish council, principally relating to issues such as highways and infrastructure maintenance and installation, common land, library services, bus services, and accounts. Also includes entries relating to wartime arrangements, 1939-1945, such as Air Raid Precaution (ARP) services.
Many of the minutes have been checked and signed at a later date.
