Relief order books were kept by the Clerk of the Flaxton Out-Relief Union.
The book records orders for out-relief granted by the Guardians in response to applications put forward by the Relieving Officer.

Details entered into the books may include: name of applicant, name of parish/relief district; quantity and description of relief; and how many weeks relief was granted.

Note that books were dated in quarterly periods. For example, Mar 1910-Sep 1910 = quarter ending in March to quarter ending in September.

Includes name of individual receiving relief from the Public Assistance Committee; address; date relief granted; amount of relief and reason for granting relief.

Note that most of this register is blank; only the first eight pages have been used.

Summary accounts of monies received by the relieving officer and amounts of relief charged to each parishes/ward.

Note, these records contain very few names of individuals. Individuals are only recorded where their particular case has incurred extra costs.

Comprises relief and expenditure books for the York Poor Law Union, York Out-Relief Union, Bishopthorpe Out-Relief Union, Escrick Out-Relief Union and Flaxton Out-Relief Union.

Accounts kept by the Relieving officer of the York Poor Law Union (prior to 1894) and the York Out-Relief Union (post 1894) and the Public Assistance Committee (post 1930).
