At present the collection comprises 18 volumes of research notes for Knight's 'A history of the city of York from its foundation in the year AD 71', as well as one handwritten manuscript entitled 'This is Clifton.'

Three of the volumes are stuck together. The volumes are individually numbered and are arranged chronologically.
