GLASS PLATE NEGATIVE. Title at top right of page : 'A Map of the River Ouse from its Rise near Ousborn in the West Riding of the County of York to its Falling into the Trent and Humber […] Surveyed by Willm. Palmer & Partners in December 1725'. Also at the bottom: 'A Scheme of the Spring Tydes, Shewing the Surface of the Water at every Hour, both in its Flow and Ebb, drawn from the Watermen's [?] Report [?] that it is High Water at Hull, when Flood at Ayres Mouth; High Water at Ayres Mouth when Flood at Wharf Mouth and High Water at Wharf Mouth when Flood at York'.

The book contains copies of outgoing letters relating to projects being undertaken by the business.

Includes correspondence and photographs received by both John Ward Knowles and his son J A Knowles, concerning the British Society of Master Glass-Painters; Bringmann and Schmidt, German glass painters; and individual stained glass windows. The letters appear to have been acquired due to the Knowles' involvement in the Journal of the British Society of Master Glass-Painters.

Volume relating to the Mount Girls School, 1858
Business cards for Cave and Sons, engravers, and John Beckett, pharmacist;
Declaration, rules and regulations of the St James's Westminster Loyal Volunteers, 1803;
Handwritten note regarding John Dechett, coach driver, 19th century;
Two unidentified document seals, 19th century.
These items were found packaged with the remaining items in the Knowles archive, however their exact provenance cannot be ascertained.

The certificate relates to his incorporation as a Fellow of the British Society of Master Glass Painters.

Entitled 'Diagram to show the continuity of design and practice in the York School of Glass Painting, 1399 to 1529', the diagram is in a family tree format, giving names and the dates they were actively working. The diagram was compiled from information in the wills of glass painters, the Freemans rolls and the Fabric rolls of York Minster. Rolled and wrapped in its original packaging.

The bundle comprises colour artwork for stained glass windows, war memorials and church fittings carried out by J W Knowles & Sons. Most of the images are mounted onto card.
