Most of the images are photographic prints created by J W Knowles and Sons and pasted ont blank postcards. Some are identified and include Fountains Abbey, cathedrals in France, Switzerland and Belgium, photographs of York streets and buildings, details from York Minster fabric rolls relating to glass and glaziers, York Minster windows, Great Malvern, St Martin's Church Leicester, All Saint's North Street York, Gloucester Catherdral and others. Many of the images appear elsewhere in the glass plate negative and photographic print collection, however these copies also contain explanatory notes. A large percentage of these images do not contain captions, however they are likely to be of stained glass in York Minster and other churches.

The card index is arranged alpabetically and contains secondary source entries relating to windows and glaziers. Please note, many of the secondary sources to which these cards refer are not held in the collection itself.
