According to a note in the front of the book, the book was presented by the wife of Charles Allison, a founding member of the York Society of Magicians, to the society following Allison's death. Another note in the front of the book explains that the book went missing in the late 1960s and was found again in the summer of 1996. In 1996 when the book was rediscovered, the Society's council decided to make the book the "President's Talisman' with the acting president each year caring for the book.

A volume containing a mix of handwritten meeting minutes, and typescript minutes which have been stuck into the volume. The volume includes minutes for council meetings and annual general meetings from 1975 to 1991. There are some loose documents included in the volume, including statements of accounts for 1991 and 1992, correspondence, and reports from council members.

Minute book dates from 1877-1881. Inserted in the front of this volume are a press clipping dated 1883 and a handwritten note on the club's history that can be dated to c. 2003.

Includes attached wax seal. Crayke was governed by the Bishop of Durham, but is physically located in North Yorkshire.

Signed by two parishioners and two churchwardens of Hessle.

By virtue of this instrument one Thomas Wakefield inducted the Rev. Thomas Bowman into the Vicarage of Hessle, 2nd December 1757.

Signed and sealed by the Archbishop of York. Also includes signed statements showing when and where the certificate was exhibited.

Signed and sealed before the Archbishop of York on the occaison of his appointment to the vicarage of Hessle in the County of York.

The certificate states that Thomas Bowman subscribed to the 39 Articles and took the oath of allegiance before the Archibishop of York.

Volume compile by Obadiah Yates [Rector of Bolton, Cumberland, 1710-1752, Vicar of Bromfield, Cumberland, l752-l765], and possibly by his family. The entries have been organised alphabetically in the first instance. The entries include notes of everyday expenses, including the payment of wages, payments for agricultural work and weaving, property maintenance, shoe repairs, the purchase of newspapers, and other such expenses. Although Obediah Yates died in 1765, entries continue after this date.

Some letters, notes, and a pedigree relating to Obadiah Yates have been inserted into the volume, probably by R.Y. Whytehead in the early 20th century.
