York Poor Law Union Service Registers

Registers of staff service compiled principally to record superannuation payments. Includes name of staff member, office/position held, salary, dates of commencement and termination of service. May also include particulars of previous service.

Note: these volumes are dated according to the commencement date of staff, however there appear to be a small number of entries outside the covering dates. All volumes are indexed by surname of staff member.

Certificates of disrepair were issued to tenants and allowed them to refuse any rent increase by the landlord until necessary improvements to the property were carried out. Some files include paperwork concerning the remedying of defects and applications by the landlord to cancel the certificate of disrepair.
