Reports on typhoid fever outbreaks in York.

Comprises booklets and loose sheets of City of York House inspection sheets for properties in improvement and clearance areas. Inspection sheet typically record the following details: address of property; names of occupiers/owners; occupation of occupier; total number of occupations; rent; size and condition of each room in the house.

Details recorded include: name and address of owner or agent; number of families in the house; name of responsible tenant; names of other tenants or sub-tenants; number of persons normally sleeping in rooms; size and use of rooms; and number of persons allowed per room. Note that the information recorded varies from sheet to sheet.

Alphabetical lists of theatre actors and the roles they played in various productions. Also includes three sheets of notes dating from the early 20th century about the contents of the dictionaries themselves.

Extensive notes about performances of plays, mostly at the Theatre Royal, York. Information includes the title of the play, the theatre company performing it, the theatre where it was performed, dates of performances, a brief summary of the run of the production elsewhere, character lists, lists of other performers taking part in the production (e.g. chorus singers), summaries of the plays act by act, and personal observations on performances.

Black and white photographs of individuals from various families linked to the Kleiser family. Names include Potter, Richardson, Kerous, Pool, Allison, Smith, Biscomb, Winterholden, Whittaker, Valentine, Dindale, Rodwell, Shillito, Moore, Morris and Collins. Other photographs provide only first names for the subjects. The Potters were connected to the Kleisers by marriage. The Shillitos and Moores weere connected to the Cundalls by marriage.

With the exception of KLE/5/1/25, all correspondence is from other individuals to Kleiser. He is sometimes addressed as 'Joseph', 'Joe' or 'Mr J Kleiser', particularly in the more informal letters from friends and family. Indeed, he signs himself 'J Kleiser' in the single piece of correspondence sent by him to Mr Cahill (KLE/5/1/25).
