The bundle consists of black and white etchings and newspaper cuttings relating to London, including many photographs and published drawings and cartoons of the city.

Most of the images are photographic prints created by J W Knowles and Sons and pasted ont blank postcards. Some are identified and include Fountains Abbey, cathedrals in France, Switzerland and Belgium, photographs of York streets and buildings, details from York Minster fabric rolls relating to glass and glaziers, York Minster windows, Great Malvern, St Martin's Church Leicester, All Saint's North Street York, Gloucester Catherdral and others. Many of the images appear elsewhere in the glass plate negative and photographic print collection, however these copies also contain explanatory notes. A large percentage of these images do not contain captions, however they are likely to be of stained glass in York Minster and other churches.

The images are not identified however the numbers on the reverse of some images appear to be panel numbers. It is possible that these images relate to one of the windows in York Minster.

There is an extract from an article or newspaper on the back of the slide, which desribes how the butter stand used to be situated in the churchyard of St Martin-cum-Gregory. Lantern slide.
