Plate 1 moderately faded, 'top row' written on plate in pen. Plate 2 stained and discoloured; 'Peter de Dene top' written on plate in ink. Plate 3 liquid stained but otherwise in good condition.

The images are not identified however the numbers on the reverse of some images appear to be panel numbers. It is possible that these images relate to one or more of the windows in York Minster or from churches elsewhere in York, and certainly includes at least one image from the St William window.

Most of the images are photographic prints created by J W Knowles and Sons and pasted ont blank postcards. Some are identified and include Fountains Abbey, cathedrals in France, Switzerland and Belgium, photographs of York streets and buildings, details from York Minster fabric rolls relating to glass and glaziers, York Minster windows, Great Malvern, St Martin's Church Leicester, All Saint's North Street York, Gloucester Catherdral and others. Many of the images appear elsewhere in the glass plate negative and photographic print collection, however these copies also contain explanatory notes. A large percentage of these images do not contain captions, however they are likely to be of stained glass in York Minster and other churches.
