The volume contains a number of newspaper cuttings relating to activities Christopher Milward was involved in during his tenure as Lord Mayor (1895-1897). The cuttings have been pasted into an earlier letterbook from the 1830s.

These items were not created by Knowles family themselves, but relate to the family home and business premises in Stonegate, York. They were created by a local researcher in the 1990s, and gifted to the family shortly afterwards.

This series includes notebooks which cannot be attributed to either John Ward Knowles or John Alder Knowles specifically, as well as magazines and prints which were retained by one of the parties for future reference.
