Labelled 'County Hospital, York, 1741' and 'Yorkshire Museum'. Caption below sketch: 'To the Governors and Trustees of York County Hospital this North West View is most humbly inscribed by their most obedient Servant R. Holme'. On the left there is a caption regarding the patients admitted between 1740 [?] and 1766. The total number admitted is listed as 14969 and the list also includes 'discharged cured', 'relieved', and 'incurable'. Lantern slide.

This sketch was adverised in The Morning Post on 4 August 1849 as follows: 'The Wreck of the Royal George drawn by Scrib. A moral showing how a royal vessel was sunk by a meek wind, during the butterfly season, to the delight of the great sea serpent and other amphibious monsters. - Published by the Hudson's Bay Company, 5, Haymarket. The slide is labelled: 'Badge of Sword Bearer' and 'Mr Layley's Chain, York'. The silver shield bears the arms of the city (St George's cross with five leopards distributed across it). The chain is also composed of linked leopards and there is a smaller silver shield attached to the main shield, also bearing the arms of the city, with a single pendant leopard hanging below it.
