Letter to J H Kleiser from Percy Hutchinson, manager at Theatre Royal York. Thanking Kleiser for his support of the theatre.
Letter from Wallace Stiranak at Theatre Royal. Replying to Kleiser's letter of 19th April regarding missed bookings.
Correspondence of Cuthbert Joseph Kleiser reflecting his personal and business life and his interest in, and support of the theatre in York and further afield. With the exception of KLE/5/1/25, all correspondence is from other individuals to Kleiser. He is sometimes addressed as 'Joseph', 'Joe' or 'Mr J Kleiser', particularly in the more informal letters from friends and family. Indeed, he signs himself 'J Kleiser' in the single piece of correspondence sent by him to Mr Cahill (KLE/5/1/25).
This series includes letters and postcards, the majority received by Cuthbert Joseph Kleiser. There is a letter to John Henry Kleiser, as well as empty envelopes (some with no addressee), and a postcard with no addressee. The letters cover a wide variety of subjects, but primarily relate to Cuthbert Kleiser's interest in and support of the theatre and other cultural establishments, family life, and the Kleiser business. The collection includes letters from Bob de Little in Melbourne, Australia. There are also four letters to Cuthbert Kleiser from Arthur Furnish, City Librarian.
