Wigginton Parish Council was officially created when the Local Government Act of 1894 formed Parish Councils. The new Parish Councils assumed responsibility for local civic and social welfare which was previously managed through ecclesiastical parishes.

Scope and content
Handwritten minutes of meetings of the Parish Council in volumes from 1912 to 1983. There is also a set of typed minutes, distributed to relevant parties, between 1978 and 2004. Minutes for 1997 to 2000 inclusive are currently still held by the Parish Council.
