    A joint authority covering the North, East and West Ridings. Responsible for administering the relief to the casual (vagrant) poor in all three ridings and their associated boroughs. Enabled Yorkshire Poor Law Unions to pool expenses for the casual poor. Had powers to maintain casuals, transfer casuals to an appropriate institution, care for any child casual, remove any casual, and maintain casuals in hospitals.
