Historique
Following local government reorganisation in 1974, the City Architect kept his title but was transferred to North Yorkshire County Council. The post came back to CYC in 1996.

Responsible for designing civic and public buildings such as schools, council housing, office accomodation. Projects vary from small scale renovation and maintenance to large scale capital works. Worked with private architects selected by competition or on specalist projects. Departmental staff included architects, quantity surveyors, and clerical staff. Liased with City Engineer and City Surveyor.
