Heslington Parish Council was officially created when the Local Government Act of 1894 formed Parish Councils. The new Parish Councils assumed responsibility for local civic and social welfare which was previously managed through ecclesiastical parishes.

Two envelopes containing copies of legal documents, with correspondence, relating to the ownership of common land in Heslington and to land and property owned by Heslington Parish Council, including a copy of title and deeds from the Land Registry for the Old Chapel and adjoining land.
