Exercise book containing additional handwritten notes and newspaper cuttings about Lord Mayors of York not found in KNO/6/2 and KNO/6/3. The volume was originally entitled 'F J Smart: English and French' and the reverse of the book contains what appears to be school French homework.

The series also includes theatrical programmes for a number of theatres, including York Theatre Royal and the Grand Opera House, and theatrical magazines.

These negatives and postcards were originally individually labelled by J W Knowles, and stored in poor quality envelopes. During the process of cataloguing, these items were repackaged into archival quality envelopes, and the details on the original envelopes transferred to the catalogue descriptions. This information now appears in the 'Title' field. Please see individual item descriptions for full details of this extensive series.

Joseph Halfpenny (1748-1811) was a draughtsman and engraver who was born in Bishopthorpe and worked in York. Glass plate negative.
