Correspondence, with some associated papers, addressed to and received by Andrew Agar of Grimstone, York. Some of the letters are addressed to Andrew Agar, care of his brother, Thomas Agar, Draper, at Pavement York. This Thomas Agar later became Lord Mayor of York.

The majority of the papers concern estate administration, including finances and the payment of rents. Also includes some papers relating the marriage of Agar's sister, and to a law suit in London.

Until 1752, Great Britain used the Julian calendar, with the first day of the new year falling on March 25th. Dates for these letters have been given as written on the letters and have not been converted into new style dates.

The choir newsletters include a both internal and public newsletters produced by the York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir. The members newsletters consist of internal newsletters, information sheets and diary sheets given to choir members to notify them of upcoming events and choir news.

There are also a number of public newsletters, published in issues. The choir produced a number of newsletters under different names, over the years. The collection includes newsletters from 1933 to 1990.

This series includes letters and postcards, the majority received by Cuthbert Joseph Kleiser. There is a letter to John Henry Kleiser, as well as empty envelopes (some with no addressee), and a postcard with no addressee. The letters cover a wide variety of subjects, but primarily relate to Cuthbert Kleiser's interest in and support of the theatre and other cultural establishments, family life, and the Kleiser business. The collection includes letters from Bob de Little in Melbourne, Australia. There are also four letters to Cuthbert Kleiser from Arthur Furnish, City Librarian.
