Caption below sketch: 'To the Governors and Trustees of York County Hospital this North West View is most humbly inscribed by their most obedient Servant R. Holme'. On the left there is a caption regarding the patients admitted between 1740 [?] and 1766. The volume contains a number of newspaper cuttings relating to activities Christopher Milward was involved in during his tenure as Lord Mayor (1895-1897). The cuttings have been pasted into an earlier letterbook from the 1830s.

These items were not created by Knowles family themselves, but relate to the family home and business premises in Stonegate, York. They were created by a local researcher in the 1990s, and gifted to the family shortly afterwards.
