Larger photograph caption indicates that the pilgrimage/parade ended at the Knavesmire (Tyburn). Captions on two of the smaller copies indicate that the photograph was taken 'before 1909'.

The late Herbert Foster and J Joshnson Smith at the York Corporation Electricity Department. Their first show room was in Clifford Street, circa 1900. Herbert retired from Crompton Parkinson Ltd at the age of 79, and died 5 years later. J.J. Smith was the

Bundle of notes extracted from undefined sources (M23/1) with extracts from the records of the Assembly Rooms. The notes start in 1730 with the purchase of Mr George Gibson's house on Finkle Street to enable a passage to be built for drains. Ends 1773 (marked as p155 of the original source).

Papers relating to the bank in Coney St. Swann Clough & Co, Coney St, existed till 1879 and was taken over by Beckett's. The site was bought in 1746 and a house built on it. It was later sold in 1771 to Samuel Compton of Derby and used as bank known successively (1771-1802) as Crompton's, Garforth's and Raper's, or (accounts differ) Willoughby, Raper & Co., including Clough & Swann as partners.
