Conditions governing access
Access to the full current electoral register: researchers are able to consult the current register by appointment only in the Archives Reading Room. Access should be for electoral purposes and researchers will be asked to sign a form in which they agree to abide by this provision. It's a criminal offence for this register to be used for purposes other than those specified in The Representation of the People Regulations, 2001. Anyone inspecting the full register may only make handwritten notes (no laptops) of the extract they're inspecting. It is not permitted to photograph or copy the register in any way.
Full electoral registers which are over 10 years old may be consulted in the Archives Reading Room. Researchers should make an appointment if they wish to consult these registers. Registers that contain details of individuals who may still be living may be consulted for research purposes only.
