Functions, occupations and activities
The York Work-People's Hospital Fund supported the York County Hospital by collecting small subscriptions from working people through their workplaces. Workshops, firms, departments, shops, warehouses, offices, friendly societies, trade unions or any association or organisation could become part of the York Work-People's Hospital Fund if they subscribed the sum of 10s. 6d. (or more) each year to the Hospital. Each organisation that subscribed had a representative on the central committee. By 1913, there were over 100 working class County governors, and the fund contributed £900 to £1000 per year to the County Hospital. This made up approximately 10-12% of the Hospital's total income.
