This archive includes the research notes, photographs, card indexes, negatives and 35mm slides collected by Hugh Murray, a local historian in York. The collection was listed by volunteers from York Civic Trust between 2015 and 2017.

During the course of this listing work, the paper files have been re-arranged into thematic series, however the original order of all other categories of material has been maintained. The remaining items are arranged by format and have been item-level listed in the order they were originally stored.

Includes meeting minutes, reports of proceedings, lists of members and society rules. Some sets of minutes and proceedings also include details of members and proposed new members, and are therefore covered by the Data Protection Act. This collection currently consists of two volumes of papers - one containing newspaper cuttings and handwritten notes (all about poetry) and the other containing miscellaneous documents, maps and correspondence relating to Yorkshire.

These personal papers were collected by Henry Tennant as part of his role with York School Board. They include correspondence, annual reports and pamphlets, as well as some material on temperance.

Minute books of the Yorkshire Fat Stock Society which include details on organisation of shows, as well as rules and lists of judges and society members. They also include financial information as well as press cuttings concerning members and shows. Also includes a printed catalogue of the 17th show held in York in 1873.

At present this collection only includes an ornamental book containing a ceremonial illuminated address to Henry Steward Lord Mayor & Chairman of the Grand Yorkshire Gala. Stewart was also a florist.

This collection includes material relating to the York Rugby League Club dating from 1881-1990. Includes meeting minutes, photographs and promotional material from the Interworks Cup games of 1988 and 1990.
Please note that the majority of the collection dates from between 1877 and 1990. There is a handwritten note on the club's history which can be dated to c. 2003.

Records relating to the operational activities of J W Ruddock and Sons, Tailors in York. Collection includes records relating to the ongoing management, financials, staffing and orders by the company.

Collection contains minute books, annual reports relating to the running of the association and a uniform belt and visitors book with a signature from J. W. Rowntree. It also includes a large collection of legal and financial documents relating to a divorce.

This collection comprises one volume which contains accounts and legacies relating to various members of the Dodsworth family including Lucy Dodsworth, Amy Dodsworth, Clare Dodsworth, Benjamin Dodsworth, G.P. Dodsworth, E.F. Dodsworth, G.E. Dodsworth and P. Dodsworth. Members of the Dodsworth family were partners in the solicitors firm of Gray and Dodsworth (later Gray, Dodsworth and Cobb) and one of the inserted sheets is a letter to William and Edwin Gray dated 1885.

The records relate to the club's governance including minute books (1884-1990), agendas, property deeds and leases, club history and club administration.

There are also records relating to membership, finance, staff and premises.

The collection comprises two lists of shareholders, a list of directors and one catalogue of fruit trees supplied by the nursery.

Benton was born and raised in York and worked on the railways. He signed up to fight during the First World War, and returned home injured in 1918 following the loss of his lower left arm and a bone in his right arm. The papers in this collection relate primarily to his war service. Please note digital copies of all items in this collection also exist.
