This collection comprises one volume which contains accounts and legacies relating to various members of the Dodsworth family including Lucy Dodsworth, Amy Dodsworth, Clare Dodsworth, Benjamin Dodsworth, G.P. Dodsworth, E.F. Dodsworth, G.E. Dodsworth and P. Dodsworth. Members of the Dodsworth family were partners in the solicitors firm of Gray and Dodsworth (later Gray, Dodsworth and Cobb) and one of the inserted sheets is a letter to William and Edwin Gray dated 1885.
Benton was born and raised in York and worked on the railways. He signed up to fight during the First World War, and returned home injured in 1918 following the loss of his lower left arm and a bone in his right arm. The papers in this collection relate primarily to his war service. Please note digital copies of all items in this collection also exist.
