Part of York Civic Archive

Records of vehicle licensing and registration, including motor cars and motorcycles, and heavy vehicles. Registers occasionally include cancellation and transfer dates, plus occasional inserted correspondence.

We are able to provide certified copies of entries for a fee, please see our website or contact us for futher details.

Four of the 28 volumes are restricted under the Data Protection Act (Y/PPT/3/1/9, Y/PPT/3/1/21 to 23 covering the period 1948-1959) Researchers may consult these volumes after filling in a Data Protection Researcher Exemption form.
