The books record orders for out-relief granted by the York Guardians in response to applications put forward by the Relieving Officer (see PLU/3/1 Application and Report books).
Details entered into the books may include: name of applicant seeking relief, name of parish/relief district; quantity and description of relief; and how many weeks relief was granted.
This series contains various records relating to York Central Conservative Club's administration. In terms of club promotion, it includes club publications such letter heads, compliment cards, advertisement posters and newsletters. There are also draft copies and offical volumes of the rules of the club, as were given to club members. There is also correspodence between the York Central Conservative Club and others from a similar Conservative background, most notably, The Association of Conservative Clubs and the National Union of Conservative and Unionist Associations. Within this series are also records relating to club charity appeals and donations.
