In terms of club promotion, it includes club publications such letter heads, compliment cards, advertisement posters and newsletters. There are also draft copies and offical volumes of the rules of the club, as were given to club members. There is also correspodence between the York Central Conservative Club and others from a similar Conservative background, most notably, The Association of Conservative Clubs and the National Union of Conservative and Unionist Associations. Within this series are also records relating to club charity appeals and donations.

Arthur Cooke was a Civil Defence Officer in York in the 1950s and 1960s. These files form his personal collection of correspondence created in the course of this duties.

Rest centres were established during World War II. The purpose of the centres was to house individuals who became homeless as a result of enemy action.

The correspondence in these files primarily concerns the administration of the various centres throughout York.

Correspondence of Cuthbert Joseph Kleiser reflecting his personal and business life and his interest in, and support of the theatre in York and further afield. With the exception of KLE/5/1/25, all correspondence is from other individuals to Kleiser. He is sometimes addressed as 'Joseph', 'Joe' or 'Mr J Kleiser', particularly in the more informal letters from friends and family. Indeed, he signs himself 'J Kleiser' in the single piece of correspondence sent by him to Mr Cahill (KLE/5/1/25).
