Part of Charles Cartwright papers

Volume containing what appear to be manuscript copies of various legal documents relating to York and Yorkshire, including some relating to Charles Cartwright. The entries have possibly been copied by Charles Cartwright, who acted as the Under Sheriff to Sir William Saint Quintin, High Sheriff of the County of York 1729-30.

The entries appear to relate to documents originally dated between 1675 and 1735 and run from the front and back of the volume. Entries are made in English and in Latin and seem to have been copied in a variety of hands, or by one hand in a variety of handwriting styles.

Draft transcriptions of some of the documents within the volume can be obtained from an Archivist.
