Small ledger, with alphabetical index, used to record sales of travel journeys, mainly showing transatlantic crossings, but also showing cruises and train journeys in Europe, and holiday tours.

Ledger entries principally include the name of the ship, details of the travel arrangements, the names of the purchasers, the date of sale, details of payments made and commission, receipts, the addresses and passport numbers of travellers, and other associated details, which sometimes includes the names and ages of the travellers.

The ledger also includes running accounts for the sale and purchase for stock, principally for a tobacco account, 1943-1948, and a wages and insurance account, 1955.

The first volume is prefaced by the following: 'The following notes formed the first draft for a work on the Stained Glass of the Minster by the late J W Knowles. They were collected, arranged and presented to the Library by his Executors. An amended copy including all his original sketches and drawings for illustration is in the Victoria & Albert Museum Library.

Scrapbook containing correspondence, leaflets and flyers, news cuttings, circular letters, administrative papers and receipts, concert tickets, and other papers relating to the York Musical Festival, 1910. A number of promotional brochures and programmes originally kept loose in the volume have previously been removed and are kept in a separate folder.

The papers relate to the establishment and organisation of the festival, including support for the festival from patrons and subscribers, performers and performances, and the fitting out of a concert space at Exhibition Buildings, including trade receipts and papers for furnishings.

Also included in the volume is correspondence with the organisers of other musical festivals and programmes for those festivals, including the Gloucester Musical Festival and the Leeds Musical Festival, a monochrome photograph showing a concert group in Exhibition Buildings, and a programme for a performance by the York Musical Society, 1908.
