Four volume thesis entitled 'The Life and Works of John Carr of York: Palladian Architect' by R B Wragg, awarded by the University of Sheffield.

The school magazine was launched in 1902 to coincide with the reopening of the school after a fire in 1899. The magazine was issued at regular intervals throughout the year, and included articles, photographs and letters.

Bound committee minutes

Registers of complaints received by the Health Department regarding rodents. Entries typically include situation of property; names of owner and/or occupier, nature of complaint and any action taken. Volumes indexed by street name.

Records of vehicle licensing and registration, including motor cars and motorcycles, and heavy vehicles. Some registers combine cars and motorcycles, whilst others contain just one or the other, so more than one volume may need to be consulted to cover the same licence plate or year range. Registers occasionally include cancellation and transfer dates, plus occasional inserted correspondence.

These volumes contain very basic summary information about coroners inquests held in York in the period, including name, date of death, date of inquest and cause of death. They are the only surviving evidence for inquests between 1935 and 1971, in the absence of any case files.

All four volumes are indexed.

It is likely that the items in this series were collected by the York Festival team as examples of good practice.
