The volumes contain newspaper clippings and handwritten notes on Yorkshire churches, church architecture and York Minster, whilst the additional papers include typescripts of articles written by J A Knowles and information on specific windows in York Minster and elsewhere.

Vehicle licensing records

Records of vehicle licensing and registration, including motor cars and motorcycles, and heavy vehicles. Some registers combine cars and motorcycles, whilst others contain just one or the other, so more than one volume may need to be consulted to cover the same licence plate or year range. Registers occasionally include cancellation and transfer dates, plus occasional inserted correspondence.

We are able to provide certified copies of entries for a fee, please see our website or contact us for futher details.

Four of the 28 volumes are restricted under the Data Protection Act (Y/PPT/3/1/9, Y/PPT/3/1/21 to 23 covering the period 1948-1959) Researchers may consult these volumes after filling in a Data Protection Researcher Exemption form. This form may take up to 48 hours to be authorised so please contact us in advance if you wish to see these volumes.

KLE/7/11 - Kursaal Travel Brochure - is written in French.

Registers of smallpox vaccinations compiled by Vaccination Officers of the York Poor Law Union using extracts from the Registrar's Registers of Births.

Some volumes include inserted correspondence relating to individual vaccination cases.

Includes registers for the City and Rural Districts of the York Poor Law Union.

There is also a menu for a dinner for the Gallery First Nighters' club. The collection was probably compiled by Cuthbert Joseph Kleiser (1855-1929) who had a keen interest in the theatre.
