Loose receipt recording a payment "received by the Gentlemen Directors of the New York Assembly Rooms in York the sum of ninety and five pounds, nineteen shillings, one penny, being the balance of Mr Ascough's Account. Many of the programmes relate to performances by amateur and community groups. These programmes were collected by Freda Freer during the course of her lifetime.

Information contained in each programme varies, but many of the programmes include some information about the society performing the production, information about the production itself, information about the performers and producers, lists of past performances by the society, lists of performances by other societies, and lists of other performances at the same venue.

Many of the programmes contain artwork on the covers and advertisements, in particular those for businesses based in York and for products and services relating to music and drama.

Album of formal portrait photographs of various families and individuals from York. Some photographs have names on the reverse, however most are unidentified. Some photographs have been taken by a York photographic company. An attached handwritten sheet includes details of research undertaken on certain individuals featured in the album.

At present this collection comprises art certificates obtained by Violet K C Meysey-Thompson during the course of her studies.
