Parochial, municipal and parliamentary registers of electors. Depending on the extent of the franchise at different periods, these may be found in seperate volumes or combined together. Registers up to and including 2006 are on open shelves in the Archives reading room and do not need to be ordered: Y/COU/6/1, Y/COU/6/2, Y/COU/6/3, Y/COU/6/4. The current electoral roll is found in series Y/COU/6/5 and Y/COU/6/6 and do need to be requested. Different access regulations appy to the edited and full versions, staff will be able to advise on which you should order.

This series contains archaeological reports relating to excavations within the City of York Council area. It is believed that the reports were commissioned by the City Archaeologist as part of the planning process. Work on the excavations was carried out by a number of third party contract archaeologists.

Town Clerk / Chief ExecutiveThis series of conveyances includes a number issued by the Corporation of York and others issued by third parties, relating to land and premises in the City of York area. Also includes property files such as commercial conveyances, purchases/acquisitions, title enquiries, commercial/business leases, deeds and title documents for various lands owned by City of York Council.
Seals which have become detached from the city charters (see Y/ADM/1/1), and seal impressions.
Contains reports, studies and literature related to traffic, public transport and parking in York.
Taxation department / Motor taxation departmentThe central recorded series of admitted freemen. The first volume has been previously known as C/Y [Continues post-Giles]. Records under 100 years old will be restricted under the Data Protection Act.
Freemen (Unreformed)Comprises papers relating to the building, widening, paving and general improvement of York's streets. Includes street renumbering records; and street improvement papers for the following areas: Castlegate and Water Lanes; Jubbergate; Spurriergate and Coney Street; Little Blake Street (Duncombe Place); Heslington Road; Gillygate, Skeldergate and Holgate Road; Monkgate and Layerthorpe.
Note only street improvements undertaken prior to the establishment of the Streets and Buildings Committee (i.e. up to c1890) have been catalogued. Later records relating to street improvements are currently uncatalogued.

Registers of complaints received by the Health Department regarding rodents. Entries typically include situation of property; names of owner and/or occupier, nature of complaint and any action taken. Volumes indexed by street name.
Records of vehicle licensing and registration, including motor cars and motorcycles, and heavy vehicles. Some registers combine cars and motorcycles, whilst others contain just one or the other, so more than one volume may need to be consulted to cover the same licence plate or year range. Registers occasionally include cancellation and transfer dates, plus occasional inserted correspondence.
